DETECTIVE KLIER, WCSO DETECTIVE AND DEPUTIES ASSOCIATION PRESIDENT WHO ASKED FOR BETTER MENTAL HEALTH FOR DEPUTIES TERMINATED

You might remember Detective Mike Klier from his speech at Commissioner’s court on February 2020. Click here to view. He spoke again in March. Click here to view.

The Community Impact wrote an article on him (click here).

Since that time, Klier has been called back in and demoted to deputy, which of course affects his administrative leave pay.

Here we are at the end of June, and that’s where Klier’s story finally ends. He was called in and terminated. Quickly the email went out from Rodriguez notifying the rest of the employees. It’s the email that makes the rest of the employees cringe, wondering if they will be next in line. Remember, Chody has gotten rid of over 260 employees in his three and a half years as sheriff.

Klier was given the reason “lying during an IA investigation”. The easiest way to terminate somebody. because there is zero burden of proof on the part of the SO. They just need to “feel” that an employee is being untruthful. They don’t need to prove it. Based on past history, Chody won’t release anything to prove it because he has nothing. But he will likely just send every open records request to the AG for a ruling so he doesn’t have to. We’re still waiting on those K9 interviews, by the way.

It’s interesting to note that in September of 2018, Chody posted “A great detective right there!” on Klier’s five-year award photo.

Klier was also awarded “Detective of the Year” in December of 2018.

Klier also received the Sheriff’s Award for Excellence.

Remember this when Chody brags about how he supports veterans. Klier is retired US Army.

Not the first Deputies Association President to be terminated, you have to wonder if Chody is looking to get somebody in place that might overlook his deficiencies and give him the accolades he requires, as he expressed in this excerpt from an email to he Deputies Association Board in November of 2018. Somebody to help him in the election.

Maybe the termination has something to do with Klier’s investigation into the death of Daniel McCoy (click here and here).

I have a feeling we will have our answers soon, as indicated by Klier’s recent Facebook post, which was met with words of encouragement by others who had suffered a similar fate at the hands of Robert Chody and his admin team. He’s not the first and he won’t be the last, at least not as long as Chody is in charge.
